Tryslate · Product guide

Tryslate is an iPhone language-learning app built around reading and sentence-by-sentence translation practice. Choose a sentence, write your own translation, then study AI feedback, a reference translation and animated grammar explanations. It suits learners who want to read their own foreign-language books and understand sentence structure.

iPhone · iOS 26+
Available for iPhone in supported App Store regions. The Tryslate name arrives with the next update.

How do animated grammar explanations help?

The explanations reveal sentence structure and the relationships between its parts, rather than just listing grammar terms. The app offers concise and detailed modes. For example, in ‘Although the rain had stopped, she stayed by the window,’ identify the main clause, notice the concession introduced by ‘although,’ then connect the two ideas. The homepage includes a replayable demonstration.

How can I practise translating my own books?

Import a document with selectable text, choose one sentence, write its meaning in your own language and submit it. Read the red, yellow or green feedback, compare the reference translation and grammar explanation, then continue reading. Online feedback for imported documents requires Pro.

How is Tryslate different from a dictionary or full-text translator?

A dictionary explains a word; a full-text translator supplies a translation directly. Tryslate centres on writing your own translation first and receiving feedback on that attempt. The reference translation supports comparison, and grammar animations explain sentence structure. It does not translate entire books in one click or offer exam certification.

Who is it for?

Language learners who want to write down what a sentence means to them. Start with short material and read at your own pace.

Does it translate whole books?

Tryslate is designed for sentence-by-sentence practice. You write first, then read the feedback. It does not offer one-click translation of entire books.

What device do I need?

An iPhone running iOS 26 or later. Online feedback needs an internet connection.

Is the feedback always right?

AI feedback can be wrong. Use it as a learning aid alongside the original text, a dictionary or a teacher's explanation.

Bring your reading material

Supports text-based PDF, EPUB, MOBI, Word, Markdown and plain text. Scanned PDFs are not supported. The Old Man and the Sea is not included; bring material you have permission to use.

Ten languages. A world worth reading.

简体中文 · 繁體中文 · English · 日本語 · 한국어 · Español · Français · Deutsch · Italiano · العربية. Choose a language to learn, and understand it in your own.

Try a sentence for free

Online feedback is free for every built-in graded reading, A1 to C2. Importing, reading and listening to documents are also free.

Keep learning with your own books

In a book you import, the first 300 graded sentences are free; Pro continues the feedback and explanations after that. Monthly and annual subscription prices are shown in the App Store purchase screen.

Books stay on your device. Online AI feedback requires your permission to send the chosen sentence, necessary context and your translation. See the privacy policy for details. Privacy (English / 中文)
